Week two of quarantine complete! I now have 16 days without leaving the apartment. My companion went grocery shopping, but we're not allowed to go together, so I let her go see the great wide world while I stayed home and jammed to some nice primary songs on the uke. I was fine with the arrangement.
But this week has been pack full of video call meetings and missionary work! We've been having lots of meetings to try to figure out the best way to help everyone be successful and use their time wisely and I've learned so much! Firstly, I've learned the work of the Lord will not stop. It may change. And whether we can see it or not, it will probably only change for the better because He is a God of progression. He's never gonna hold back the most important work in the world.
At one of our meetings this week, we watched a ted talk about David and Goliath. It basically highlighted all of the reasons why David was not actually the underdog that we tend to think he is. He had a lot of advantages in his fight with goliath, and of course, he had the Lord's help. But right now, we might think we're fighting against something a lot bigger than us, a lot stronger than us, and out of control. But if we stop and think about it, we have just what we need, and the enemy doesn't have as much as he thinks. And to top it all off, we have the Lord with us so game over right there. (but that doesn't mean it won't be an exciting game). Anyways, just something to think about. And if you want to look it up, its by malcom gladwell :) LINK TO VIDEO
Also, Mathias is going to get baptized! I don't know if I've ever told ya'll about Mathias, he is one of a kind. He is hilairous. Spanish is not his first languafe, french is, and we do not speak french. So it's a fun time. All mathias wants is to go be a missionary in Africa so he can help the people there. We met Mathias a little while ago in the street and we've been teaching him. And before the quarantine, when we would ask him if he was gonna be able to go church on sunday, he would look at us almost insulted and say, "claro!" (of course) like he couldn't imagine doing anything else on a sunday morning. Basically he is an electo. On friday, I said to him, Mathias, do you want to be baptized? And he looked at me with that same face and said, "claro!" and as soon as those fonts are back open, Mathias will be first in line!
On sunday, we were able to do a virtual sacrament meeting with mathias and some members that he's made friends with and we had a nice testimony meeting. At the end, mathias asked if he could also share his testimony. Claro. He grabbed his book of mormon and hugged it to his chest ans shared a story about how thr book of mormon had saved him and then said in broken spanish translated to english, "as long as I have the mormon, I'm ok."
I think we can all learn a thing or two from mathias. Because I really know and have experienced the effect the book of mormon and the knowledge of the restoration have in our lives.
I love you all and I hope you have a fun safe week!!
