Corona Virus: Letter from Mission President

Dear Madrid Missionary Parents, As you are aware, the corona virus is spreading across the globe and impacting many missions. In Europe, we have been monitoring its progress daily and coordinating proactive steps to protect our missionaries while continuing to share the gospel. As recent as last week, the virus hit Italy where to date they have identified 169 cases and experienced 3 deaths. Today we were notified that a case has been identified on the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands which is a part of our mission. The case seems to be isolated and the officials have acted quickly to curb its spread. That said, what was something off in the distance has now entered our mission boundaries so at this point,  we are being proactive and taking precautions to protect our missionaries while not creating a panic or impeding the work. We wanted to share with you the note we sent to all our missionaries this morning so you are aware of what we are asking them to do. As ...

A complete week ;)

Holaaaa que tal!? This week was another good one! Nothing too exciting pero a la vez it was a little bit eventful haha. We had two Intercambios and during the first one, I was with the not one and not only hermana pendleton :) we've been waiting for this day our whole missions haha so we could be comps. Let's just say it weirds people out even more on the street because instead of just thinking we are nuns, they think we are weird twin nuns and we have to explain to them that it's just chance that we have the same name haha. Other than that, the week was pretty chill. We had lots of really good street contacts. One of my favorites was this guy named Sebastián. He has a tattoo of his son on his bicep and he'd been to Utah before. Which never happens. So I asked him why he went there. He said, "there's like this religious culture there, mosona? Something like that." haha we just laughed and looked at each other and asked if he was maybe thinking of morm...

A short one but a good one :)

Hey ya'll! So not a ton has happened this week. It's been a good one though. We found lots of new amigos to teach and it's been pretty tranquila. We had English classes on Friday and this French guy came and then also came to church on Sunday so that was super hilarious! We met with our friend Ryan again. He's the one that smoothly Bible bashes basically and we were getting nowhere with him so we had to drop him. Kinda sad but hopefully he meets missionaries again someday and decides to actually listen. Today for pday we rode bikes with the whole zone along the coast and ate legit Italian food and the Italian elder in our district talked to the workers and now they all love us haha. I really don't have a lot to tell. It was a week full of dining miracles so I'm sure in the coming weeks I'll have a lot to share as these people start progressing!! So stay tuned! A question that president asked me the other day was, "what's more import...

Peep the cat

Well hola hola, this week has been filled with pretty entertaining citas haha so here we go. Well first off we were in Madrid up until Wednesday and then we came back on a not first class Ave and got right back to work. We had a Cita that night with the menos activo family that decided they wanted to all go back to the temple and oh man it was hilarious. When we first got there, only the mom was home so we started talking to her while we waited for the kids. She told us all about her kids' plans and how they want to go on missions and marry good people, etc. But she focused especially on her 19 yr old son Manu because he's her favorite child because "he has just such a good spirit." anyways, didnt think anything of it, the kids got back with dinner and we had a good time. After a few minutes, to make conversation, hermana Rico said to Manu, "oh hey your mom told us about your plan" and he instantly turned white. And he was like what? And his mom was like noo...

Catch us up in first class

This week in malaga we pulled out our sandals and short sleeves and were absolutely loving life, but right now we're back up in Madrid for a few days and let's just say it's not quite the same weather and having to pack our coats and boots was saddening. But now we are here and I got to see hermana arscott my Hijaaaa! So fun to see her again. She's in a trio with another one of my old comps haha so that's fun. Anyways, some fun updates on the week. Firstly, Claudio lost his bird and he was a little bit depressed. Last Sunday he didn't show up to church and when we asked him what happened, he proceeded to tell us lo que pasó. On Sunday he took her out to play in a park and as they were there chilling, she flew up into a tree. But this bird has an injured wing and so after she got up there she apparently couldn't get back down. Claudio waited there for her for 5 hours. What a devoted little guy. But once it hit midnight he decided he couldn't stay ther...
