This week in malaga we pulled out our sandals and short sleeves and were absolutely loving life, but right now we're back up in Madrid for a few days and let's just say it's not quite the same weather and having to pack our coats and boots was saddening. But now we are here and I got to see hermana arscott my Hijaaaa! So fun to see her again. She's in a trio with another one of my old comps haha so that's fun.
Anyways, some fun updates on the week. Firstly, Claudio lost his bird and he was a little bit depressed. Last Sunday he didn't show up to church and when we asked him what happened, he proceeded to tell us lo que pasó. On Sunday he took her out to play in a park and as they were there chilling, she flew up into a tree. But this bird has an injured wing and so after she got up there she apparently couldn't get back down. Claudio waited there for her for 5 hours. What a devoted little guy. But once it hit midnight he decided he couldn't stay there all night and he finally went home and he never got her back. But this week he came to church bird-free so we didn't have to stress out that it was gonna fly everywhere. And when they brought out the TV during Sunday school, he melancholingly commented that it reminded him of Bella because that's where she landed last time. He's a funny one.
Other funny moment of the week: on like Wednesday or something, we were in a rush to get somewhere so we hurried out of piso and got in the elevator to take the long peaceful ride from the eleventh floor that we live on. Eons later, when we got to the second floor, the door opened to let someone else in and it was a mom with her giant baby carriage (because Spain doesn't believe in little strollers which makes zero sense because everyone has to take public transportation) I didn't know if we would all fit but she looked like she wanted to drive and she began to come in carriage first. After the carriage was in, I squeezed myself up against the wall as much as I could to make room for the mom but then she just left! She left her baby in their, pushed the button and then took the stairs! We had a 15 second staring contest in complete silence with this baby as the elevator went down and then it opened at the bottom floor and the mom got her baby and left without saying anything. Let's just say that was a first for us haha.
On Wednesday we had a milagrazo! After running around all day, our final Cita was with this menos activo family that we love but hasn't come to church in years. They've made a lot of progress in the last couple months! The parents used to not stay for the spiritual message, just the kids. But now they all stay and love to talk to us forever. And right as we were leaving on Wednesday, the dad stopped us and said hey I just have a question. Whens the next ward temple trip?... Our minds were blown. His daughter started freaking out she got so excited she couldn't believe it. They asked us to come back again this week to share a message about the temple and answer their questions and we're super excited! God has his timing that's for sure!
Also on Tuesday we did a Pancarta baiut family history and we just asked people in the street if they knew where there ancestors were from. It gave us some good times haha.
Yesterday we had to catch the 3 1/2 hr train to come up to Madrid and we were sad because we didn't have any snacks and we couldn't buy anything real quick because it was Sunday but we made do and boarded the train. After a few minutes, a little cart stopped by to give us water and little crackers and we realized we had been given first class tickets! We enjoyed the train ride with our hot toallitas and our Spanish dinner served to us on a silver platter. (it was actually a purple plastic tray and the equivalent of airplane food but it was so much better than what we thought we were getting which was nothing).
Anyways, we have had a fun week getting to spend some time with members and meeting a lot with our amigos and seeing some real progression so I'll keep you updated! Oh and my name has now evolved to Hermana peedle, hermana peen, or hermana pen. Take your pick because my real name is too hard to pronounce so the members have started having some fun.
When we were visiting with a different menos activa a few days ago, she began crying as we were teaching the lesson. I don't even remember what I was saying, but I felt like crying myself and I felt the spirit so strong as I told her that jesus christ is always there for us. He wants to help us be better every day and he's waiting for us to decide that that is also what we want. He is our best friend!
Love you all! Have a fantastic week!
