Holaaaa que tal!? This week was another good one! Nothing too exciting pero a la vez it was a little bit eventful haha. We had two Intercambios and during the first one, I was with the not one and not only hermana pendleton :) we've been waiting for this day our whole missions haha so we could be comps. Let's just say it weirds people out even more on the street because instead of just thinking we are nuns, they think we are weird twin nuns and we have to explain to them that it's just chance that we have the same name haha.
Other than that, the week was pretty chill. We had lots of really good street contacts. One of my favorites was this guy named Sebastián. He has a tattoo of his son on his bicep and he'd been to Utah before. Which never happens. So I asked him why he went there. He said, "there's like this religious culture there, mosona? Something like that." haha we just laughed and looked at each other and asked if he was maybe thinking of mormona? And when he realized his mistake and realized he was talking to them, he felt really bad but we just thought it was funny and explained to him that it was just a nickname and so on. And when we gave him a book of Mormon and explained it to him, he was so grateful. So we're expecting big things from him in the future so stay tuned.
On Wednesday night after noche de hogar, we had completos!! Or in other words, chilean hot dogs and they are incredible. Our favorite Chilean member made them for us so now she's even more our favorite ;)
OK now Saturday was the real exciting day. Little Jose got baptized! I don't know if ya'll remember me talking about the niños a few emails back, but their names are Jose and ainhoa. Their mom wanted ainhoa to wait (she's 8 years old), but she was on board with Jose who's 11 so we made it happen. Well a few weeks ago we passed the teaching over to some other Hermanas because we realized the mom (who's a less active member) was no longer in our ward. But we were still able to see them at church every once in a while because we share buildings. And so they asked us to do a musical number at their baptism. Anyways, all went well and smoothly, all I gotta say is 5th times the charm when Immersion is involved. And when the building coordinator doesn't turn on the water like he says he was going to, sometimes you have to resort to buckets when there are only 15 minutes before the baptism should start and the font is definitely not full enough, even for an 11 year old. And then afterwards, they told us to make sure and clean the font before we left. And for some reason, the font drains until there's about 2 inches sitting in the bottom and then it just stops. But we can't just leave it there. So once again we got thrifty and we employed our buckets and dust pans and assembly lines once again to get that thing clean and dry. Baptisms are always quite the experience haha. But definitely worth it.
This week I read a talk from the october General conference and it talked about the importance of giving our all to the Lord. Burning the boats. (only I will get that joke sorry). And he talked about how the people of ammon dug their weapons deep in the earth, not just sticking half out, easily accessible just in case. Are we really giving it all up? Are we really willing to never turn back? Just something to think about.
Today for pday we went to an auqarium by the beach and basically we were living finding nemo. One of those weird crab things that cleans the fish tank cleaned my hand and I met dory.
Anyways, I hope you all have a super good week and know that I love you mucho!
Hermana Pendleton
