Miles of olives

Hola hola! It's been a pretty exciting week! It snowed in Málaga! I mean we weren't here to see it but we heard all about it! We took a nice week vacation to Granada and Jaén haha. We had Intercambios with the hermanas in both those areas so we were out of our area from Tuesday go Friday so a little rough but we experienced so many miracles that kept the work going here.

During Intercambios in Granada, we visited this cute little member named Maria who took us on a field trip all around the city to fun her errands before we finally sat down to share a message and drink some colacao. And a recent convert lives next door and was so excited to tell us that he finished the book of Mormon! He was so excited that he signed the end of the book and we took a picture :) I hope we're all that excited to read the scriptures.

And then during Intercambios in jaén (where there are miles and miles of olive trees), we visited another cute little member named Juanita who gave us Mittens she had knitted herself. The only thing is that this sweet little lady is blind. She told us that they were to keep our hands warm because we walk outside so much, but that we should probably only wear them in the house because they're ugly. Cutest little mittens I own. And she took us to visit her cousin who tried to marry off Hermana Welling to his son.

Also if anybody remembers me talking about our friend Claudio (he's the one that carries around his bird), well he gave us some nice excitement this week. We last minute invited him to a baptism that another Malaga ward was having and he last minute showed up even though he told us he wasn't coming! So we rushed to meet him there and when we walk into the baptism room, we see him showing his bird to the elders. Now, before this point he had never before pulled the bird out of the bag, but this time it was sitting in his hands in plain view for everyone to see in the middle of the capilla. We nervously laughed and tried to hint that he should put it away. When they were about to start he finally went to put it away, but jokes in him because that bird didn't want to go back into the bag. So it jumped right out of his hands and started flying all around the room until landing on the TV at the front. Oh my goodness we were so embarrassed we didn't know what to do. And little claudio (and I mean little because this guy is like 5 ft or less) can't catch his bird because he is too short. So he whispers to one of the elders to go catch it and the elder went and grabbed it off the TV. I was so glad it didn't take off again. Everyone was very confused but they seemed to find it humurous so alls well that ends well. And claudio loved the baptism. But he didn't come to church the next day when we told him he couldn't bring the bird. So we will be working on that one.

We got to visit the niños again and ahhh they're so cute I love them so much. They always have so many questions. They think so deeply. This week José asked us who the first person ever to get baptized was. And if God got baptized. That one made me think for a second haha. I love teaching them so much. They told us that they want to get baptized because they want to return to live with God. We're still working on the fecha because they get a little nervous but we'll get there soon.

We've been focusing on family history a lot in the entire mission recently and so we are given more time to work on our own family history. This week I tracked my family tree all the way back to the big bang and I didn't even know that was possible.

At our district council on Tuesday, our district leader said something that really impacted me. He began asking us who Christ was to us. He went around to each of us and asked us to answer the question. It was really fun to hear all the answers and be able to think about that relationship I have with my savior. And then what he said next made me think a lot. He said, "ok we all know who Christ is to us, that's great!" He then asked us, "now who are we to Christ?" I don't think I've ever really thought that before and it took me a second to think of good word to describe it. But he then read from D&C 84:63 which says:

"ye are they whom my Father hath given me; ye are my friends"

We are Christ's friends. Think about the bestest friend you've ever had and times that by infinity and eternity. That's what we are to Christ. He gives his life for his friends. And when we are on his errand, we are able to strengthen that friendship so much more. He means so much to us and we mean so much to him. Why else would he do what he did?

Just something to think about. I hope you're all doing well! Transfers are this week but me and hermana Rico are staying here in Malaga together so partyyyyyy! Love you!

Pringles save us

This week we just did a nice little tour of the south, which was very nice because all the other cities aren't as hot as malaga plus all the other hermanas pisos have air conditioning haha. We went from malaga to fuengirola to ronda to Jaén to Granada and back to malaga. And when we finally stepped of the bus back in malaga, the heat hit and humidity hit us harder than ever and we had already started back on filling those lakes just on our short walk back to piso. I love Málaga. On all of our very long bus rides we got very hungry but you're not allowed to eat on the buses because of Mascarillas. And the only food item we ever had was Pringles because it's the only good thing they sell at bus stations, so we would just slide one under the mask and into our mouths every few minutes when nobody was looking so we didn't starve to death. We really know how to do things right. When we were in Jaen on intercambios, we visited this cute member family. And like I said, they wer...

Rondaaaa

This week was a partyyyy! On Tuesday, our favorite members, Ana y Fernando, wanted to take us to their favorite buffet in fuengirola, but when we got there, the original buffet no longer exists, but in its place was a sushi buffet haha. So we went. First time sushi eater here. But my dear sweet little companion helped me pick the things that weren't gonna kill me so I very much appreciated that. And then Ana just Had to buy us these little owl family souvenirs with their names as the parents and me and Hermana Larsen as the children hahaha (pictured below) they're so sweet.  We had a Cita this week with an amiga named Joy. She's an amiga of the malaga 2 hermanas, but they're both Latinas and Joy doesn't speak Spanish so we're helping them out. She's so sweet. They had planned to teach her about. she evangelio de Jesucristo, the pasos that we have to take in this life, and invite her to be baptized. We started talking about the first paso, faith, and I asked ...

Lakes to slightly smaller lakes

A nice little heat wave from Africa came in the last couple days. In the form of very very hot wind. But it did take down the humidity levels from our normal 85%. So instead of sweating lakes all day, we are sweating slightly smaller lakes. Feeling very blessed. Except for actually not having the humidity for a day felt very strange. I felt like I was about to shrivel up from dehydration. Vamos a ver what utah does to me haha. But it's been a really good week! We had two intercambios which means a week full of parties and lots of lessons and lots of learning. Always so much fun. We have a friend named Sebastián and we were finally able to meet with him in person to give him a book of Mormón. He was so excited to have one and right after the lesson he was gonna head to the beach to lay out and read the book of mormón. But we ended up giving him two books because he wanted to share one with his mom as well. Que máquina! We also met with our friend Fredy and he came to church yesterda...
