Happy day!!

Hola hola! We had Williams baptism was on Saturday and all went well! He was super happy to finally get to that point and he shared the sweetest testimony afterwards and now he's right on track and already talked to the bishopric about receiving the priesthood haha.

On Friday we got to go to the temple with our recent convert Rene so he could do baptisms and I loved it so much! It was the first time I got to see the baptistry in the Madrid temple and it's gorgeous and the spirit was so strong. There were a bunch of other recent converts there from other wards and it was so cool to see so many experiencing that strong spirit and complete joy for the first time. And I loved watching those who baptized too for the first time and picturing then as incredible future missionaries.

On Wednesday we had a kind of hilarious experience. We were supposed to have a Cita with our friend Edelin in a park, so we went to the park, but the problem was that we had only seen this girl one time before and it was dark outside the first time. So we actually had no idea what she looked like haha. We saw a girl sitting on a bench that could possibly be her so we walked up to her and last minute had to change tactic to contacting because we realized it wasn't Edelin when she didn't seem to recognize us whatsoever. But it was a good contact. We gave her a libro de Mormón, but she didn't want to give us her number so it was kind of eh. And then we went to Wait on a bench for our amiga. When she got there, she first stopped to talk to the other girl and we were like oh that's a little awkward because theyre friends and then they both came towards us. We had a really good restoration lesson though and the other girl tried to act like she wasn't listening as she definitely listened. And halfway through the lesson, another girl showed up and so she kind of was listening too. At the end of the lesson, come to find out theily're all sisters and they all said they would come to church on Sunday (which they didn't actually do but we still have hope). One of the sisters asked if we could bless her baby in our church and we were like ummmm yeaaah but actually we have no idea how the policy works for that so we've got to do some research. And as we were leaving that sister called us back and asked if we had another libro that she could have and we were like claro que si!

We also had another lesson with Francisco on Saturday and we still haven't been able to set a fecha with him because he wants more time. But the spirit was strongly present in the lesson. We talked about temples and family history and baptism and we founfd out that baptisms for the dead is one of the doubts he has about the church. So we talked about that and testified and I could see that he has such a desire to live with his family forever and help his family members receive these important blessings but he's scared because it's a lot of responsibility. We invited him to really pray for a confirmation of these truths because that's really the only way he's gonna develop enough faith to leap.

We have transfers this week and my two companions will be heading to central Madrid and malaga and I'll be staying here in sanse to train. And best part ever!! Hermana Frame is gonna be my STL and I'm pretty pumped about that.

This week I've been thinking a lot about joy. The real kind of joy we can experience. In 1 Nephi 8:12 it says:

"And as I partook of the fruit thereof it filled my soul with exceedingly great joy; wherefore, I began to be desirous that my family should partake of it also;"

I know that that joy comes when we partake of the fruit and make the decision to stay by the tree and never lose our access to it. And that joy doesn't come from our circumstances in life, it comes from the knowledge we have of the gospel of Jesus christ and of eternal families and the decision we make every morning to have faith and hope and trust in our savior.

I love you all and I want you to know that that joy is right in front of your face and if you're not already holding on tight, I invite you to feel around a little to see if you can catch on.

Hermana Pendleton

Oh and feliz cumple shoutout to my bro! 17! Everyone go tell him he's cool!

Pringles save us

This week we just did a nice little tour of the south, which was very nice because all the other cities aren't as hot as malaga plus all the other hermanas pisos have air conditioning haha. We went from malaga to fuengirola to ronda to Jaén to Granada and back to malaga. And when we finally stepped of the bus back in malaga, the heat hit and humidity hit us harder than ever and we had already started back on filling those lakes just on our short walk back to piso. I love Málaga. On all of our very long bus rides we got very hungry but you're not allowed to eat on the buses because of Mascarillas. And the only food item we ever had was Pringles because it's the only good thing they sell at bus stations, so we would just slide one under the mask and into our mouths every few minutes when nobody was looking so we didn't starve to death. We really know how to do things right. When we were in Jaen on intercambios, we visited this cute member family. And like I said, they wer...

Rondaaaa

This week was a partyyyy! On Tuesday, our favorite members, Ana y Fernando, wanted to take us to their favorite buffet in fuengirola, but when we got there, the original buffet no longer exists, but in its place was a sushi buffet haha. So we went. First time sushi eater here. But my dear sweet little companion helped me pick the things that weren't gonna kill me so I very much appreciated that. And then Ana just Had to buy us these little owl family souvenirs with their names as the parents and me and Hermana Larsen as the children hahaha (pictured below) they're so sweet.  We had a Cita this week with an amiga named Joy. She's an amiga of the malaga 2 hermanas, but they're both Latinas and Joy doesn't speak Spanish so we're helping them out. She's so sweet. They had planned to teach her about. she evangelio de Jesucristo, the pasos that we have to take in this life, and invite her to be baptized. We started talking about the first paso, faith, and I asked ...

Lakes to slightly smaller lakes

A nice little heat wave from Africa came in the last couple days. In the form of very very hot wind. But it did take down the humidity levels from our normal 85%. So instead of sweating lakes all day, we are sweating slightly smaller lakes. Feeling very blessed. Except for actually not having the humidity for a day felt very strange. I felt like I was about to shrivel up from dehydration. Vamos a ver what utah does to me haha. But it's been a really good week! We had two intercambios which means a week full of parties and lots of lessons and lots of learning. Always so much fun. We have a friend named Sebastián and we were finally able to meet with him in person to give him a book of Mormón. He was so excited to have one and right after the lesson he was gonna head to the beach to lay out and read the book of mormón. But we ended up giving him two books because he wanted to share one with his mom as well. Que máquina! We also met with our friend Fredy and he came to church yesterda...
