Stand ye in holy places

Heyyy ya'll so this week not a lot yet a lot happened haha. Quarantine is slowly lessening so today we went on a little hike up by the malaga castle so my comp could see it before she leaves next week and we walked around centro a little and got churros and chocolate and it was nice to get out and see centro. On Saturday we also had our first Cita that wasn't over video call! A member invited us over to eat and oh my goodness it wqs probably one of the craziest eating citas i have had on my mission. They were fighting the whole time because apparently they tried to use the wrong kind of rice for paella and it took like 3 hours longer than they thought so they couldn't give that to us so they gave us crab salad and vegan tortilla de patata and there were only 3 drink options: non-alcoholic beer, gazpacho (if you don't know that that is, look it up, its terrible. Basically a tomato onion smoothie), and something called ajo blanco, which is a drink that comes from the mountains of malaga and its basically almond milk with a whole entire cut up garlic dumped in. Delicious. After a while i asked for water and they looked at me like i was crazy. But luckily they heeded my plea and i was able to wash some things down.

We also went over to their house again yesterday to take the sacrament! Best day ever. We haven't been able to have the santa cena in about 10 weeks and i was so excited. And i just felt the spirit so strongly as I was sitting there and i just felt how much love our Savior has for us and what a great privilege it is to have the sacrament and the blessings it brings in my life.

Y bueno, we had a cita with mathias this week and it was hilarious and so good. On Tuesday we sent him a few book of mormon verses to read and said we were going to discuss them together. On Saturday we were finally able do a video call and he sadly told us that he wasn't able to read the verses before our cita, so we started telling him that we were sad he didn't do it and that he could try harder the next time and then he was like oh well i read it twice but i just didn't get to read it again today right before you called. That one gave us a good laugh. And then he proceeded to teach us about what he learned which was way better than any explanation i could've given him and then went on to explain to us the difference between the "Mormón" and the Bible, which is that the book or mormon tells you the Bible is true but it just gives you more clarity. And the "Mormón" has a prophet today. Amen brother. We're just waiting on him to tell us when he is going to be baptized because it's his voluntad as he likes to tell us. He's doing very well though.

Also Samuel is on fire!! If you remember him from last week, he basically taught himself everything and asked to be baptized and be a missionary in the space of an hour. Sadly he does not live in spain, but we're still working with him until we can get him in contact with missionaries over there. This week though, we went over the restauración and he loved it and hes been reading a ton in the book of mormon and then he asked us about fasting because he wants to align his will more with God and strengthen his faith and he had heard that fasting was very powerful so he wanted to try it out and he wanted to try it out this weekend so we fasted with him. Que máquina!

On Friday we had a supplemental zone conference and Elder Massimo Defeo spoke to us (through zoom) and it was incredible! He talked a lot about how we might not always see God and feel God. But our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ always see us and feel us. He also told us the process him and the rest of our area presidency went through as they were deciding whether or not to keep us here or send us home at the beginning of all the craziness. And he said it was very difficult. And he shared with us the scripture from doctrine and covenants that says, "But my disciples shall stand in holy places, and shall not be moved." they knew that we needed to stay here. But also he emphasized to us the importance of making wherever we are a holy place. Amd being the holy place. A really cool insight he shared that i hadn't thought of was that when President Nelson invited us all to participate in the Hosanna Shout from our homes at conference, something that is normally performed at temples, he was helping us all make our homes into an extension of the temple, really making them a holy place.

Anyways, it's been a good week. Next week when i talk to ya'll, I'll have a new companion! Love you and have a great week!

Hermana Pendleton

We also had lots of virtual Intercambios which has been fun :)

Pringles save us

This week we just did a nice little tour of the south, which was very nice because all the other cities aren't as hot as malaga plus all the other hermanas pisos have air conditioning haha. We went from malaga to fuengirola to ronda to Jaén to Granada and back to malaga. And when we finally stepped of the bus back in malaga, the heat hit and humidity hit us harder than ever and we had already started back on filling those lakes just on our short walk back to piso. I love Málaga. On all of our very long bus rides we got very hungry but you're not allowed to eat on the buses because of Mascarillas. And the only food item we ever had was Pringles because it's the only good thing they sell at bus stations, so we would just slide one under the mask and into our mouths every few minutes when nobody was looking so we didn't starve to death. We really know how to do things right. When we were in Jaen on intercambios, we visited this cute member family. And like I said, they wer...

Rondaaaa

This week was a partyyyy! On Tuesday, our favorite members, Ana y Fernando, wanted to take us to their favorite buffet in fuengirola, but when we got there, the original buffet no longer exists, but in its place was a sushi buffet haha. So we went. First time sushi eater here. But my dear sweet little companion helped me pick the things that weren't gonna kill me so I very much appreciated that. And then Ana just Had to buy us these little owl family souvenirs with their names as the parents and me and Hermana Larsen as the children hahaha (pictured below) they're so sweet.  We had a Cita this week with an amiga named Joy. She's an amiga of the malaga 2 hermanas, but they're both Latinas and Joy doesn't speak Spanish so we're helping them out. She's so sweet. They had planned to teach her about. she evangelio de Jesucristo, the pasos that we have to take in this life, and invite her to be baptized. We started talking about the first paso, faith, and I asked ...

Lakes to slightly smaller lakes

A nice little heat wave from Africa came in the last couple days. In the form of very very hot wind. But it did take down the humidity levels from our normal 85%. So instead of sweating lakes all day, we are sweating slightly smaller lakes. Feeling very blessed. Except for actually not having the humidity for a day felt very strange. I felt like I was about to shrivel up from dehydration. Vamos a ver what utah does to me haha. But it's been a really good week! We had two intercambios which means a week full of parties and lots of lessons and lots of learning. Always so much fun. We have a friend named Sebastián and we were finally able to meet with him in person to give him a book of Mormón. He was so excited to have one and right after the lesson he was gonna head to the beach to lay out and read the book of mormón. But we ended up giving him two books because he wanted to share one with his mom as well. Que máquina! We also met with our friend Fredy and he came to church yesterda...
