¡Twenty!

Well we've had quite the adventure the past few days. On Thursday night, Hermana Arscott came down with some kind of sickness and threw up in the middle of the night and we ended up having to stay in piso basically all day friday because she had a high fever and was contagious apparently. But don't worry I'm safe :) and good news! Jessica, Edison, and Yerai passed their baptismal interviews. Bad news, they didn't actually get baptized yet. So on Friday afternoon, Jessica's cousin had a heart attack and so she was in the hospital with her all night and decided she needed to stay with her and called us to tell us they needed to reschedule the baptism to the next week. So we did that, we communicated everything to the ward. But we also found out some things that might make it so that they can't get baptized for another little while so we will see. We're still praying it can happen this next Saturday.

Saturday was a good day! I finally opened the package my family sent me (they're the best) and jolín I'm so old now! We taught English class on Saturday night and we were teaching the numbers, and our friend luisa loved saying the word "twenty!" and then when she found out it was my birthday she just kept saying it over and over again hahaha.

We also contacted the cutest little lady on Saturday! It was a día de encontrar but we weren't really having any success. But (following the spirit) we contacted a lady named luzmila and oh man it was the most entertaining street contact I've had. We now know how old each of her eight grandkids are, their names, their birthdays, their life stories, every cute thing they've ever said to her, and I could pick them out of a crowd as easily as I could my own siblings she showed us so many pictures. But hey we've got a new best friend and she's got a book of Mormon and she was so excited to meet with us this week :)

We also had a suuuuper entertaining Cita last night. About a week ago we were calling a bunch of contacts that we had in our phone and we talked to a girl named Angela and set up a Cita with her. During our conversation with her we also realized that she knows the missionaries because they would come and teach her English. So we figured it would just be an English teaching Cita but we were prepared to teach about our beliefs too. I mean we always are that's our job description. But holy cow her and her pareja were sooo curios about what we do. Our conversation was all over the place and changed topic about every other sentence. But they wanted to know everything about America, our missions, our church, and English too. And man I love speaking Spanish. They both talked a million miles an hour and it was so much fun. And they want us to come back a couple times per week so we're really excited about that!

Something that Angela said though caught my attention that I'm actually surprised we don't get more. We were explaining that our church was the true church of Jesus christ and she was explaining to us that every church says they are the true church so she just doesn't pay attention to that anymore. But that's why personal revelation is so important! Joseph Smith was thinking the same thing and that's why he prayed in the Grove. Because he trusted that God would give him the answers. As missionaries, we testify all day long about the truth. But nobody else can know it's the truth unless they open their heart to the spirit and take it upon themselves to develop a personal relationship with their heavenly father. President Nelson has talked a lot about the vital importance of personal revelation because it's so true that we need to be able to be dependent on the spirit, not only on the words of others. Although many times, those words are what brings the spirit so we always need to be ready. Anyways just some random thoughts from Hermana Pendleton. I invite you all to think back on the last time you recognized something as revelation or a prompting from the spirit. If it seems to be a long time ago or you can't think of something, look harder because I know the spirit is speaking to you because God doesn't give up on us. And maybe that also means we need to try a little harder to follow what he says.

I love you all! Have a good week!

Pringles save us

This week we just did a nice little tour of the south, which was very nice because all the other cities aren't as hot as malaga plus all the other hermanas pisos have air conditioning haha. We went from malaga to fuengirola to ronda to Jaén to Granada and back to malaga. And when we finally stepped of the bus back in malaga, the heat hit and humidity hit us harder than ever and we had already started back on filling those lakes just on our short walk back to piso. I love Málaga. On all of our very long bus rides we got very hungry but you're not allowed to eat on the buses because of Mascarillas. And the only food item we ever had was Pringles because it's the only good thing they sell at bus stations, so we would just slide one under the mask and into our mouths every few minutes when nobody was looking so we didn't starve to death. We really know how to do things right. When we were in Jaen on intercambios, we visited this cute member family. And like I said, they wer...

Rondaaaa

This week was a partyyyy! On Tuesday, our favorite members, Ana y Fernando, wanted to take us to their favorite buffet in fuengirola, but when we got there, the original buffet no longer exists, but in its place was a sushi buffet haha. So we went. First time sushi eater here. But my dear sweet little companion helped me pick the things that weren't gonna kill me so I very much appreciated that. And then Ana just Had to buy us these little owl family souvenirs with their names as the parents and me and Hermana Larsen as the children hahaha (pictured below) they're so sweet.  We had a Cita this week with an amiga named Joy. She's an amiga of the malaga 2 hermanas, but they're both Latinas and Joy doesn't speak Spanish so we're helping them out. She's so sweet. They had planned to teach her about. she evangelio de Jesucristo, the pasos that we have to take in this life, and invite her to be baptized. We started talking about the first paso, faith, and I asked ...

Lakes to slightly smaller lakes

A nice little heat wave from Africa came in the last couple days. In the form of very very hot wind. But it did take down the humidity levels from our normal 85%. So instead of sweating lakes all day, we are sweating slightly smaller lakes. Feeling very blessed. Except for actually not having the humidity for a day felt very strange. I felt like I was about to shrivel up from dehydration. Vamos a ver what utah does to me haha. But it's been a really good week! We had two intercambios which means a week full of parties and lots of lessons and lots of learning. Always so much fun. We have a friend named Sebastián and we were finally able to meet with him in person to give him a book of Mormón. He was so excited to have one and right after the lesson he was gonna head to the beach to lay out and read the book of mormón. But we ended up giving him two books because he wanted to share one with his mom as well. Que máquina! We also met with our friend Fredy and he came to church yesterda...
